AllCity Wireless announces immediate availability of its Open Architecture WiClient software allowing Wireless Access Points to be managed via the Cloud anywhere in the World at a fraction of the purchase and support cost of other proprietary solutions

ANNAPOLIS MD, Jan 25 2011 – AllCity Wireless announces its latest software release for the WiDirect product line: WiClient ver. 1.4 Firmware, initially for select EnGenius Access Points. The innovative WiClient firmware can be added to Wireless Access Points such as EnGenius ECB3500, allowing them to be deployed anywhere in the Cloud with almost no local deployment and support costs, and managed by the AllCity Wireless WiDirect controller. WiDirect can now control multiple stand-alone hotspots over the cloud from anywhere in the world, to anywhere in the world.  This technology is particularly applicable in environments where wireless access is geographically widely distributed and must be centrally managed, such as by enterprises, chains and franchises. The new WiDirect code and WiClient Access Point combination allows for infinite locations through Cloud-controlled WIFI, all for less than $300 per location, requiring no truck roll.  With WiDirect and WiClient technology, owners can deploy hotspots globally and manage them using a single Cloud controller: WiDirect ver. 1.5.  The WiDirect handles all the remote location logins, and provides end users a seamless and fully customizable experience, even when visiting different locations.

Philip McQuade, President of AllCity Wireless said: “WiDirect and WiClient allow the network operator to monitor, operate and maintain a network without having to be in the field.”  He continued, “For the first time operators can deploy Cloud-based WIFI networks at a radically reduced cost and zero residual or reoccurring fees.”

In the event of a remote access point malfunction, network administrators are automatically alerted that a problem needs to be addressed.  If required, a replacement device can be overnighted to literally any location and the problem can be resolved in hours, for just the cost of hardware.  McQuade continued: “The WiDirect and WiClient family enables any operator to be proactive as opposed to reactive when dealing with problems while avoiding the headache of dispatching support on site.”

The WiClient firmware is available immediately and is the latest in a series of innovative and successful Wireless management and deployment products developed since 2005 by AllCity Wireless.
