ANNAPOLIS, MD,April 3, 2012 – AllCity Wireless announces its latest software release for the WiDirect and WiClient product line: WiDirect ver. 2.2.

This latest release of the WiDirect code addresses many customer requests as well as adds to stability and functionality. Controlling a wireless deployment is an ever evolving task and the WiDirect 2.2 ver. software show how flexible the WiDirect is. Whether Hosted or Appliance based, the WiDirect can control multiple stand alone hotspots from anywhere in the world to anywhere in the world. Billing and roaming are now more flexible allowing large operators to offer service anywhere in the world. Included in WiDirect’s 2.2 are several software enhancements to better accommodate the user’s experiences and overall capacity. Here is a partial list of the latest updates.

Security and stability improvements
Support for profile specific accounts and limited access for administrators that can only see and make changes to their profile
User account MAC address restrictions- An account can now be limited to a certain number of devices access the network
Additional upgraded registration and billing reports
Improved active user reporting
FirstData payment gateway support
Authorize.net CIM support and recurring billing
Additional support for clustering WiDirects
Increased Login Page Customization from GUI
Support for the New BelAir BA20E (Basic configuration of SSID and encryption settings is available)
Additional EnGenius EAP9550 support
Additional AP data sent to WiDirect for AP status viewing
Content filtering- List of sites editable from the web
Optional LDAP Authentication for logins
Additional options when configuring logins via RADIUS
Additional options can be enabled through SSH:
The user’s registration date can be modified to give the user more time.
A user’s number of simultaneous connections allowed can be modified.
Plan setup costs (charged only the first time they choose a plan on a recurring plan)
Reports for number of connections/registrations per hour.
Download usage reports per WiClient.
User’s connection history shows the WiClient the user is using.
Improved roaming between WiClients.
Added invoice number and item description to Authorize.net payment emails.

I wanted to own my authentication just like I own my radios. Monthly usage fees along with inflexible technology were not a working for me, or my customers. Since I bought and installed WiDirect I know I don’t have to worry about ongoing costs eroding my profits.

We have had the WiDirect for over a year now and I want to report that it has been a wonderful product. As you know we run a fixed point to multipoint WISP and the WiDirect handles all our needs from user management, to running and alerting on the network conditions. We evaluated several products before making a purchase decision and we are very happy we chose the WiDirect. The WiDirect has made our life very easy and it also allows us to expand with ease as we continue to add to our service area. Your technical support staff is extremely proficient of the product so no question goes un-answered. Finally, you are continuously adding great features to best service our needs.

The reason I purchased the WiDirect is I prefer to own my entire network including the ability to reliably manage my month to month billing and collections. Monthly usage fees along with inflexible and unpredictable technology were not a working for me, or my customers. Since I bought and installed WiDirect I know I don’t have to worry about ongoing costs eroding my profits or my billing service company being sold and the negotiated contracts and agreements evaporating. I am now able to customize my own business model on the fly with no dependency on the whims of billing companies that frequently change hands.

The City of Greenville installed a Wireless Mesh solution as a pilot to provide citizens and visitors free WIFI access in Uptown Greenville NC for economic development. After several months of the installation we discovered that city council wanted to see how the investment was going and we discover that the wireless solution had no reporting capabilities. We then discovered that ACW had a solution that would provided us reporting and much much more like ftp, dhcp, radius & visual mapping of the AP transit links. We then proceeded with the purchase of the WiDirect by ACW and it has made our management of the wireless Mesh a breeze. Listed below are some of the thing that have made our purchase of the AWI box worth mentioning to others.

First of all the Engineers are very knowledgeable of the Wireless Networks.

Second they are easy to contact and provide proactive support.

Third the WiDirect has provided us with the tools necessary for reporting and managing our mesh network.

Finally they are constantly upgrading the software and adding new features.

I just wanted to take a moment and let you know that we will be using the WiDirect gateway on future projects. The platform has performed above our expectations. The platform has demonstrated a high degree of stability. It was extremely easy to set up and the report fields and user options are quite through.

We looked at several other options and the WiDirect platform offered the best alternative from both a feature rich product and the overall value. It was as near to a true plug and play as device as we have experienced.

I have had great results with the WiDirect product. The support staff at All City Wireless has been able to provide services that where above and beyond expectations. The product is very versatile and very powerful for the solution that it provides. I have looked at many products similar and none of them provide the same type of service and reliability for the price.

WiDirect is now part of Cisco’s Developer Network and is listed in the Cisco online solutions catalog. Offering the WiDirect and its affiliated products such as the WiClient and hosted services, Cisco clients can reap the benefits of WiDirect management on any WIFI network.

The WiDirect allows operators to control their Wireless networks directly and remotely, no matter the size or scope of the project. And seeing how AllCity Wireless’ WiDirect has had successful past experience integrating with Cisco products, this introduction into the Cisco marketplace is a welcome and expected addition.
