Configure Network Hardware Address
In some cases it may be beneficial to save the hardware address of the Ethernet interfaces in the configuration files. Making this change can prevent the network cards from switching in devices with more than two network ports.
To edit the interface file open the configuration file with one of the following commands:
emacs /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 emacs /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth1 emacs /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth2 emacs /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth3
In that file there will be a line that starts "HWADDR=". Enter the MAC address of the interface after the = symbol. After making the change press Control-X followed by Control-C to save and exit.
